Helsinki’s public transportation, managed by HSL, is built on efficiency and sustainability. It integrates trams, buses, trains, metro and even ferries under one seamless service. Whole city center of Helsinki, including the sea fortress, is covered with an AB ticket.
How to buy a ticket?
Grab a ticket that spans all transportation methods. There are multiple different ticket options to choose from – whether your traveling needs an 80-minutes-valid single ticket (for zone AB ticket costs 3,20 euros) or a 24-hours ticket (for zone AB ticket costs 10 euros) up to 13 days.
The easiest way to get your ticket to ride is purchasing it on HSL application. All kinds of ticket can bought not just for you but to your friends and family as well.
Adults' single tickets can be purchased onboard from the small blue machines with the contactless payment of your debit/credit card. No ticket is printed out in this case; your card serves as the ticket for the next 80 minutes.
Other options are ticket machines on the stops and stations, as well as R-kioskis located around the city.
Journey planner: Find the fastest routes, correct connections and accurate timetables from the journey planner in the HSL app or hsl.fi/en.
Airport transportation: Two trains, I and P, operate to and from the airport regularly and quickly; travel time from the Central Railway Station is around 30 minutes. You need a ticket for zones ABC (4,40 €). Bus 600 takes you to the airport any time of the day.
Public ferry to Suomenlinna: The public ferry (HSL) to Suomenlinna operates all year round offering the fastest and cheapest way to get to the UNESCO heritage site.
Family benefits: Children under seven years old travel free on all public transport, making it easier and cheaper for families to explore together. Also, a parent with children in strollers travel for free on all public transportation.
