Kotka’s beautiful, internationally award-winning parks are each unique in their own way. There are eleven parks in Kotka’s city centre alone and 1400 acres of green park spaces within greater-Kotka combined. As just two examples, Sapokka Water Park, with its magnificent waterfall, is Finland’s most awardwinning park, and Seaside Park Katariina at the southernmost tip of Kotkansaari island covers over twenty acres. Additionally, the more nature-filled Koskipuisto park is located in Koivula, less than ten kilometres from Kotkansaari island. Finally, in nearby Siikakoski, the Siikakoski Arboretum is a botanical garden with around 100 different tree species to be admired.
