Colonnaded Hall

Colonnaded Hall
the space formed by the dining room and the Colonnaded Hall did not exist in its current form during Anderson’s time. Rather, it features a collection of lost elements from Anderson’s original home, arranged to create an atmosphere and aesthetics in line with his interior design ideals. The dining room furniture corresponds to the original. The dining table, three Gustavian-style serving tables and the chairs are from Svartå Manor. They were acquired at the same time as the drawing room’s Gustavian furniture, which can be seen in photos taken by Signe Brander in 1910, when Chamberlain Hjalmar Linder still lived at the manor.
The furniture in the Colonnaded Hall, on the other hand, is gathered from former parts of Anderson’s home. The hall is dominated by furniture from the Atlas Bank headquarters designed by Arttu Brummer, an Art Deco table and chairs from the bank’s ‘golden hall’. The bank’s new office was completed in 1929 at the corner of Mikonkatu and Hallituskatu (now Yliopistonkatu), with Brummer responsible for the interior design. That same year, the bank merged with the Bank of Helsinki. Anderson, who was a member of the Bank of Helsinki’s board, acquired the furnishings for himself after Atlas Bank closed down.
The surviving elements of Brummer’s interior for the Atlas Bank are rare, as most of his furniture was destroyed.
