The rustic chest in the entrance hall dates back to the second half of the 19th century. It has been altered at some point. The details, with corner rosettes and guilloche frieze, are Gustavian in style. Chests were originally fitted with locks because they were used to keep precious items, anything from clothes and textiles to foodstuffs. Among the upper classes, the chest was replaced in the 18th century by a piece of furniture of a new type, the bureau, and eventually the chest became outdated even in the homes of peasants.
