The Art Deco bed in Amos’s bedroom is a 1912 model made by Helsingin Uusi Rautasänkytehdas. At the turn of the 20th century, the affluent middle class would often sleep in iron beds, which were considered important for combatting vermin. The chaise longue, already common in the 19th century, was a practical piece of furniture that became popular throughout society in the 20th century. After the Second World War and the advent of foam cushions, the chaise longue became cheaper to produce. Amos slept in the bed at night and took his afternoon naps on the chaise longue. The seating set in the bedroom consists of period pieces in a very common type of rustic style. The suite is in the Gustavian style and was probably made in Finland between the 1930s and 1950s. Amos collected carpets and rya rugs. The rya above the bed dates from the mid to late 19th century, the one above the chaise longue is a rya blanket made between 1800 and 1879.
