THE CONSUL’S ROOM
THE CONSUL’S ROOM
The room is decorated as Alfred’s study and named after his honorary title. The interior decoration of this room is dominated by an ensemble of furniture in the Russian Neo-Baroque style. Further, there is a horse figure, sculpted by Emil Cedercreutz; five marine motifs by Berndt Lindholm; two paintings by Ali Munsterhjelm showing views of Turku – one depicting this house in Piispankatu; two landscapes by Louis Sparre – one a motif from Porvoo, the other from Toledo; and views from Turku and Helsinki. One of the many Victor Westerholm paintings to be found in this house hangs over the sofa; this is called "Sunlight in March" and shows a landscape from the Kymi river, dated 1911. The volumes in the bookcases make up only a small selection of the Consul’s large original library.
