When the architectural competition for Kallio Church was announced in 1906, the church was expected to embody dignity and impressive, grand lines. Upon its completion in 1912, Kallio Church indeed became an impressive sight. The 65-meter-tall tower rose atop a hill, towering over any other building in the city, and the church was visible in its full height from several streets leading to it. Even today, the tower of Kallio Church is considered one of Helsinki's landmarks. Welcome to the tower!
