If you prefer to explore paths less travelled at your own pace or if you’ve already visited the region’s traditional destinations several times, you can always find exciting new adventures in the Vaasa Region.
The Vaasa Region is a dynamic area on Finland’s west coast that combines beautiful coastal nature, vibrant urban life, and world-class innovation. It includes the City of Vaasa and its surrounding municipalities — Korsholm, Laihia, Isokyrö, Vörå, Malax, and Korsnäs — together forming a lively and diverse region with about 115,000 inhabitants.
It may be surprising, but the sea is related to the grain fields of Ostrobothnia. The flat plains you see in this rural landscape rose from the sea over time. In fact, Finland is growing all the time: the land area in the Kvarken Archipelago increases at a rate of one square kilometer per year, which corresponds to more than 150 football fields.
