Ahlström Noormarkku Ironworks was founded in 1806 by Carl Constantin de Carnall, making it the last ironworks established in Finland under Swedish rule. In 1870, Antti Ahlström bought the site and transformed it through major renovations, expanding operations and rebuilding after several fires. The Ahlström family also shaped the area architecturally, most notably with Villa Mairea, designed by Alvar and Aino Aalto in 1939. Today, the site is celebrated for its cultural and industrial heritage, with preserved buildings now housing museums, hotels, and event spaces.
