On the porch of the museum Ett Hem, you’ll find a curated collection of traditional houseplants that reflect the bourgeois interior style showcased throughout the home. By the late 19th century, a new ideal in home decor had emerged—one in which potted plants played a key role in creating a refined and cultivated atmosphere.

In the Jacobsson family home, typical plants included agave, Norfolk Island pine, ivy, porcelain flower, and spider plant. The drawing room was especially elegant, decorated with grand palms in fine porcelain pots.
