The original icon is considered wonderworking and is situated in the Church of St. Nikolaev Odrin Monastery in Karachev. It is said to have healed a weak woman in 1760. The icon became really popular, and many copies were made and distributed across Russia.  
 
Our Assuage My Sorrows is one first icons brought to the cathedral, shortly after it was finished. Originally the cathedral had no other icons than those present in the iconostasis. All of the other icons were brought to the cathedral after its consecration, this one being one of the first
