Amateur theatre

Helsinki Gay Theatre HGT ry was founded in the autumn of 2007.

The purpose of the association is to support theatre activities of sexual and gender minorities, to promote equality in society through theatre arts, and to develop theatre activities and to act to satisfy the theatre needs of the locality and the surrounding area. HGT does not have a permanent theatre space, but the performance venue is chosen on a project-specific basis. HGT produces 1–2 premieres a year and organizes other activities related to theatre and acting, such as various workshops, training and courses. The association does not have permanent staff. Helsinki Gay Theatre HGT is a volunteer-run, amateur-based theatre that has established itself as a significant factor in building the identity of the Finnish rainbow community.

Helsinki Gay Theatre HGT ry is a member of the Finnish Amateur Theatre Association.
