Our instrument collection includes approximately 2,000 instruments from around the world. Many of the instruments in the collection have a clear connection to Finnish musical life, Finnish instrument makers, and the city of Turku. The oldest instruments date back to the 18th century. The museum holds an extensive collection of kanteles and keyboard instruments, including several Finnish square pianos.
The collection also features folk instruments from various parts of the world, including several from Asia and Africa. In addition, it includes recording and sound reproduction equipment, toy instruments, and various experimental instruments. You can find more information about the Sibelius Museum’s instrument collection on Finna.
