Marita Walldén was born in Vyborg. She studied at the Finnish Art Society’s drawing school (1913–1917) under the teachers Albert Gebhardt, Hugo Simberg, and Viktor Malmberg. She made her debut as a sculptor in 1917 and participated actively throughout her career in exhibitions both in her home country and abroad. She is best known for her small, delicate female figures. This marble bust is undated, and the subject is an unknown woman.
