The Escape to Moominvalley exhibition at the Museum of Finnish Architecture and Design explores, in an unprecedented way, the relationship between Tove Jansson, the Moomins, architecture, the built environment, and design. The exhibition begins by presenting places and environments dear to Jansson, after which visitors embark on an imaginative journey to Moominvalley and its spaces. It offers new experiences for Moomin fans as well as insights for those familiar with the fields of design and architecture.
Escape to Moominvalley reveals how the places important to Jansson, such as her studio home in Helsinki and the secluded summer retreat on Klovharu island, influenced her creative work. Visitors are invited to explore Jansson’s spaces through archival materials, objects, and photographs.
