Bastion Zander at Kustaanmiekka, in southern Suomenlinna, has been the flag bastion of the fortress throughout its history. The flag of Finland is hoisted in the bastion in the summer season.

Bastion Zander was built between 1748 and 1750 as part of a chain of four bastions. Its walls comprise mainly vertical rock faces with a low parapet on top which has 14 embrasures in it. The walls around the bastion have embrasures that present a risk of falling. Please be careful and keep a close eye on your children!
