A Grand Instrument with 5600 Pipes

Music is an essential part of the Lutheran Church, and the most important instrument is organ.  On the West side of the Cathedral facing the altar stands the main organ. The Cathedral´s first organ was built by the German organ builder E.F. Walker and its façade was designed by Lohrmann in 1844. The original organ was demolished in 1961. The present principal organ was built by the Danish Macussen & Son in 1967.

The organ holds 4 keyboards, 57 registers, pedalboard and over 5600 pipes. In this Cathedral you can hear organ music almost every day during daily services and organ rehearsals. During summer there is also weekly organ concerts with free entrance.
