Located in the Plaza Augusto Suárez Figueroa, also known as Plaza Vieja. The building was built during the 18th century and acquired by the City Hall in 1853 to be used as the Town Hall. It underwent a major renovation in 1944, when it acquired its current configuration and the stained glass windows of the staircase were installed.

Formerly the building was known as "the house of the cistern", since the basement of the courtyard houses a cistern of Muslim origin, rectangular in shape and covered by a half-barrel vault. Originally it must have been located in the northwest tower of the Muslim fortress of Estepona, which occupied the place of this house.

It currently houses the Municipal Archaeological Museum.
