On the old chapel of La Veracruz was built in the late eighteenth century, the church of the convent of the Order of St. Francis, with donations and the work of the entire neighborhood Esteponero. Fray Diego José de Cádiz, one of the most famous Spanish preachers, attended its inauguration. Its colonial and baroque style façade combines Marian, Franciscan and pre-Columbian iconographic elements. In 1835 it was abandoned by the friars due to the Law of Disentailment, and shortly after it became the Parish Church of Los Remedios. In 1936 its archives and works of art were burned, and the current altarpiece was installed in 1993, as part of a thorough remodeling.
