Génesis de Andalucía

Génesis de Andalucía
Poem dedicated to Andalusia by this poet and teacher with a long trajectory in the city.
Through the endless plains of the stars,
where dreams and souls meet,
the planets wrote a name,
the gods, the gnomes and the fairies.
They adorned it with olive trees, inar and flowers,
of perfumes, of mint and basil;
they crowned its summits with cinnamon
and embroidered a blue river of silver.
They carried the name, thus adorned,
on a beautiful and clear land
and bewitched that land and allowed
many different races to occupy it.
And when their work was done,
they went away again-pink and mauve-
to the endless plains of the stars,
where dreams meet souls...
And so this land was left forever
with the magic of the fairies bewitched,
perfumed with thyme, mint,
mint, cinnamon and basil
Andalusia forever, land born
from the whim of the fairies.
