Aleksis Kivi (1834 – 1872) was a Finnish writer who wrote the first significant novel in the Finnish language, “The seven brothers”, published in 1870. He is also known for his plays “Kullervo” and “The Heath Cobblers”. He finished these plays while living in a cottage in Siuntio in the year 1863.
This building is a replica of the original cottage which was in Siuntio. The original cottage was destroyed in a fire shortly after the building was moved to Seurasaari. Some of the items inside the cottage are from Aleksis Kivi's parents' home in Nurmijärvi and some are his personal property.
