Leppälä cottage
Leppälä cottage is the home of a crofter, acquired for the museum in the early 1980s from Loimaa in Häme. Jaakko, who was unmarried, lived in the cottage until 1981. He worked at a nearby sawmill, but also worked as a barber in the village. The croft also includes a shed, an outhouse and a hop garden.
The cottage was a rented dwelling on the farm, which did not include any agricultural land. The croft system was in use from the late 1700s to the 1900s. Crofters were quite poor at the time.
