This water saw was imported from Sarvilahti Manor in Pernaja on the Southeastern coast of Finland. The oldest records of hydro-powered sawmills date back to the 1500s. The oldest parts of the machinery of this sawmill, date back to the 17th century, when saw milling was an activity of the nobility and bourgeoisie. Gradually, saw milling spread to the peasantry.
