President of the Republic Urho Kekkonen (1900-1986) began jogging daily in Seurasaari from 1956 and, to the horror of his security guards, tested his jumping strength at these stairs. Kekkonen's goal was to reach the top, the seventh step, with a single leap. U.K.K, in his youth, was a top-level high and long jumper. At the age of 74, the president still managed to reach the second highest step. Once he reached the top, but disqualified his own performance as he had to take support from the stair railing.
