Nåtö is a deciduous meadow area and one of our most species-rich habitats. Until the 19th century, deciduous meadows were a natural part of the Åland cultural landscape. However, changes in agriculture have led to most of the deciduous meadows becoming overgrown. Nåtö offers magnificent flower meadows and pastures with rich orchid populations, unique beach meadows and cool, lush hazel groves. Traditional haymaking is carried out every year in July. There is a rich bird life here, including the buzzard and many bird species that nest in tree cavities.
