We're back at Eteläsatama Harbor, one of Finland's busiest passenger harbors. The Port of Helsinki facilitates smooth sea travel to Tallinn and Stockholm. Approximately 12 million passengers pass through this port annually. King Gustav Vasa founded the harbor and the city of Helsinki on June 12, 1550, at the Vantaanjoki estuary. He aimed to compete in Baltic Sea transport, conduct trade with the Russians and the Dutch, and replace Tallinn as the intermediary for Russian trade.
