The Castle hall was in heavy use in the Middle Ages. The simply furnished space was used for staying, eating, celebrating and sleeping.

The large vaulted room was heated by stoves. Smoke exited the room through smoke vents in the ceiling. Originally, the entrance to the Linnantupa was through the courtyard. The other doorways were opened during the restoration of the castle.

The Castle hall remained in use by the nobility and the reserve army in the late 15th century, when the King's Hall on the second floor of the castle was completed. Later, the Castle hall was used as a storeroom, a powder cellar, a stable and a prison room. Today, it is used as a restaurant.
