Tsar Peter I had a palace built in the early 18th century as a temporary summer residence, designed by Italian architect Niccolo Michetti. Today, the palace houses the Estonian Art Museum's collection of foreign art. In addition to paintings, prints, statues and handicrafts, concerts, theater performances and lectures can be enjoyed in the palace. The upper flower garden, which is open to visitors in the summer, has been restored to its 18th-century appearance.
