The pedestal in the Neo-Gothic style of the 1830s is said to have been part of the interior given to the Ceremonial Hall in the Old Academy Building after the Great Fire of 1827. Yrjö Liipola’s sculpture, Sitting Old Man (1906) is set on the pedestal.
