This helmet is a distinctive piece: it is the helmet of a Colonel from the Savoy Cavalry, representing a command position. It belonged to my ancestor, Gennaro Roero di Monticello, who will be discussed in more detail in the Gallery of Portraits. This helmet is quite rare, as there were only 39 Colonels in the entire history of the Savoy Cavalry regiment. On the walls, you will find other helmets from the Savoy Cavalry, but those are standard issue helmets for enlisted personnel, while this one is unique in its design.
