This mannequin is dressed in what can be described as the "underwear" of a knight. To prevent direct contact between the armor and the skin, a padded garment known as a jupon was used. Its functions were twofold: first, to create a buffer between the armor and the skin, and second, to absorb and distribute the impact of blows that could otherwise dent or damage the armor.

Over the jupon, knights would wear a chainmail shirt, a type of metal "shirt" made from a densely woven mesh of interlinked rings. This chainmail was designed to stop arrows; the triangular tip of the arrow would struggle to force its way through the small metal rings, thereby preventing it from penetrating deeply into the skin.

Life as a knight was indeed challenging and demanding.
