This piece of furniture is called a trumeau or doppio corpo in Italian. This particular one is Venetian. How did it end up here in Piedmont? It was part of the dowry of Clotilde's great-grandmother, Paola Colloredo Mels, who married in Piedmont. Here she is in a photo. Its Venetian origin makes it quite unique. It features a glass display instead of a solid door and its smaller size—being originally a bedroom piece, not a grand salon piece like the larger Piedmontese trumeaux. It arrived here through marriage to my wife, and we chose it to decorate the Sheikh's Room.
