A coal scuttle is a bucket-like container for holding a small reserve of coal next to the fireplace. Jacobssons coal scuttle was made in Saint Petersburg by San-Galli. A small spade behind the box was used for moving the coal. The box could also be used to collect ashes when the fire was out.
