When you sit in the chapel, you can look toward the area in front of you. At the center stands the altar, a special table used for worship. A silk altar cloth is placed on it. This cloth is a piece of art, and its color changes during the church year.
On two days each year, the altar has no cloth at all. Just before Easter, a crown of thorns made from brambles is placed on the altar.
The altar cloth can be one of five colors:
Red
Purple
Green
Yellow
Black
