Come and enjoy the historical surroundings of Lohja Museum. The Museum’s main exhibition showcases living in the Lohja area during different times. In the exhibition Kotikaupunkimme Lohja – Our Home Town Lohja located at the old school building visitors can learn about the development of the area from a group of many small islands during the Stone Age into a modern town. Special exhibitions offer a deeper understanding of various subjects. More information about exhibitions can be found on the Museum’s website.
The Museum’s grounds and beautiful garden are always open for public. The Museum café is open during the summer time.
The Museum is situated in an old vicarage. The different buildings have been constructed between the 18th and first half of the 20th century. The manor-like main building was designed by architect August Boman and was built in 1860. During its time the vicarage was a large estate which farmed the land and raised livestock. Many of the original buildings at the vicarage have been preserved including the estate manager’s building, the milkmaid’s cottage, and the cow house. Some buildings such as the loft barn, the raised granary, and the drying barn have been moved to the area.
