Colourful and beautifully illustrated Christmas magazines have been part of the anticipation of Christmas for over a hundred years. Christmas magazines were first printed at the beginning of the 19th century and the first Finnish Christmas magazine, in Swedish, was Betlehems stjärna from 1879. Short stories, family stories and articles about Christmas food were published in the magazines. The magazines often had attachments of illustrations and Christmas cards. In the museum Ett Hem, there are several different Christmas magazines on display: Julkvällen (1928), Julkvällen (1926), Julstämming (1930) and a Danish Christmas magazine Julehelg (1923) which was a present from Walborg (née Jacobsson) and Edwin Eager to Alfred and Hélène.
