According to the newspaper Åbo Underrättelser, "Christmas tree confections" were for sale already in the 1850s. Confections were made from almond paste which was artistically shaped into different figures, fruits, mushrooms and berries. Bakeries offered gingerbread, Christmas sweets and candies. Saffron buns or lussebulle or lussekatt were baked in connection with Saint Lucy's Day on 13 December. The museum's pastries, meringues and krokan are baked by baker Curt Lindqvist. Everything is made according to old models and traditional recipes.
