The forest trails of Hiidenmaa are colored by rugged mountain landscapes, quiet forest ponds with clear water, and rushing rapids.
Old crofts with their haystacks, hay rakes, and cart tracks tell of the life of the forest people. The route winds through the lakeside landscapes of Saimaa Luonteri, and there are several lean-tos and rest areas along the trails. One of the Juvan Saimaa Geopark sites, Enkelinpesä, is also located along the route.
Including the trails around Neitvuori, the total length of the Hiiden polut hiking trail network is approximately 50 kilometers. The route runs both through the terrain and along forest roads. You can choose the duration of your trip from one hour to a few days.
On the Juva side, Hiiden polut and the Metsänväki trail can be accessed from Siikakoski, while in Mikkeli, the trails start from the Neitvuori area. You can also start the trails from Laurinkota, the Enkelinpesä parking area, or the parking area at the intersection of Kannuslahdentie and Kannuslahden metsätie. The approximately seven-kilometer Enkelinpesä loop trail begins and ends at the Enkelinpesä parking area.
