Epithaphios and the sepulchre (symbolic tomb)
Epithaphios is an image of the dead body of Jesus Christ painted on cloth. The Easter sepulchre (symbolic tomb) is brought to the center of the cathedral during the Holy Week. There are two sepulchres at the church. The bigger one is the original artifact donated specifically for the cathedral in 1868, though nowadays it is a museum piece, as it is too frail and cannot be moved safely anymore. The smaller white sepulchre is originally from the Suomenlinna church and it is the one that is used during Easter services.
