History

A Fire Brigade House was built on this site in 1907 and came under Ahlström’s ownership in 1919. The Club building was completed in 1924, designed by architect Karl Lindahl. Since then, it has served as an Officers’ Club (Tjänstemannaklubben) and has also housed the Civil Guard and Lotta Svärd organizations.

In the yard stands a memorial created by Anja Karkku-Hohti in 2011 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Elin Danielson-Gambogi’s birth.

Danielson-Gambogi, born in Noormarkku, was an artist who also spent much of her time in Italy. The memorial reflects both her Finnish roots and her life in Italy, depicting the silhouettes of two cities: Noormarkku and Livorno.
