On the ground floor, Villa Ett houses the large Noormarkku Hall and Café Strömfors. The hall serves perfectly for meetings during the day and celebrations in the evening. Café Strömfors, in turn, offers a pleasant spot for a break during events.

Upstairs, the inviting private rooms reflect the company’s glassmaking history and are named Karhula, Iittala, and Riihimäki. With the exception of Noormarkku Hall, Villa Ett is furnished with the company’s antique furniture. The house also features numerous stunning light fixtures designed by some of Finland’s most renowned designers, including Paavo Tynell.

History

Villa Ett and its neighboring Villa Två were designed by architect brothers Walter and Ivar Thomé and built between 1916 and 1917. The villas are an integral part of the Head Office Park ensemble. The Head Office, designed by Emil Fabritius, was completed in 1916, and the park’s landscaping was created by Bengt Schalin the same year. The villas were among the Thomé brothers’ final works, as both were tragically killed during the events of 1918.

The villas were originally built as homes for company executives. Villa Två continues to serve as a residence, while Villa Ett was fully renovated in 2009 and converted into a venue for meetings and events. The original floor plan was preserved, and great care was taken during the renovation to maintain the house’s idyllic character.

On the garden side, a new glass veranda was added in 2013. Both the renovation and the terrace were designed by Architects Küttner Ky.
