The Head Office, designed in a Neo-Baroque style by architect Emil Fabritius, was built between 1914 and 1916. The ground floor originally housed a spa area, featuring Finland’s first indoor swimming pool. The building still retains its original elevator. In addition to office spaces, guest rooms were constructed on the upper floor to accommodate visitors.
In 1966, the company underwent an organizational restructuring that also affected the central administration in Noormarkku. The finance department was relocated to Helsinki, while Noormarkku retained mainly personnel, training, and local administrative functions. After this change, the Noormarkku ironworks primarily served as a venue for company meetings, training, official functions, and as the headquarters for the forestry department. Despite these organizational changes, Noormarkku remained the official registered office of the A. Ahlström Corporation until the company split in 2001.
Today, the Noormarkku works is owned by A. Ahlström Kiinteistöt Oy, a subsidiary of Ahlström Oy. A. Ahlström Kiinteistöt Oy manages and develops the company’s real estate and forestry assets and provides conference, accommodation, restaurant, and cultural services. Noormarkku Club operates as a lunch and event restaurant, and several of the works’ buildings have been renovated into charming hotel rooms. The Head Office also houses Ahlström Konsernipalvelut Oy.
