A Conspiracy is a painting by the Scottish artist George Ogilvy Reid (1851–1928). Alfred and Hélène Jacobsson acquired the work from the Scottish exhibition at the Turku Art Museum in 1905.
The painting depicts six men gathered in a room. Three of them stand in a circle, engaged in intense discussion, while two others are positioned at a table on the left side of the composition. One man is seated, and the other leans over the table. On the table lie papers and a pen, suggesting that a secret plan or agreement is being drawn up.
The men are dressed in luxurious 18th-century silk garments in shades of pink, turquoise, and burgundy. Each wears a white wig, enhancing the historical atmosphere of the scene and anchoring it firmly in its period setting.
