In the dining room, there is only one work by Axel, a winter landscape in the corner next to the doorway leading to the hall. However, the room contains several works by Axel's relatives: his uncle, Casper Wrede (1856–1945), and his maternal great-uncle, Gustaf Philip Armfelt (1830–1880).
Above the piano, there are two paintings from Paris, painted by Victor Westerholm. Westerholm was Axel’s predecessor as curator at the Turku Art Museum. They also worked together in the drawing school in Turku, where Axel taught from 1907 to 1910.
On the same wall, there is a coastal landscape by Fanny Churberg and a painting of two snow buntings by Ferdinand von Wright. Axel received the painting by Churberg as a gift from Gösta Stenman, and the snow buntings painting was won by Axel’s mother in a lottery by the Finnish Art Association.
On the opposite wall, there is a watercolor from Italy by Helene Schjerfbeck. Axel received the work as a gift from Schjerfbeck in connection with an exhibition of her works at Stenman’s art gallery in Helsinki. From 1917 to 1920, Axel worked as an artistic collaborator at the gallery, which was one of the most important in Finland. Several of the artworks and objects in Casa Haartman have come there through Stenman’s art gallery.
