The dining room contains only one work by Axel, a winter landscape in the corner next to the doorway to the hall. However, the room does contain several works by Axel’s relatives, his uncle Casper Wrede (1856–1945) and his mother’s uncle Gustav Philip Armfelt (1830–1880). Casper Wrede studied art but changed his career plans at a young age and became a farmer in Kimito. Wrede was an important person in Axel’s life, and the two were close. The dining room contains two paintings of Saustila manor in the municipality of Sauvo, both by Wrede.
There are two paintings from Paris above the piano, painted by Victor Westerholm. Westerholm was Axel’s predecessor in charge of Turku Art Museum. They also worked together at Turku Drawing School, where Axel taught in 1907–1910.
On the same wall, there is a painting of a rowing boat on the shore by Fanny Churberg. This was a gift to Axel from Gösta Stenman. Below Casper Wrede’s painting of Hugo and Hedvig Haartman in the harbour at Saustila is a painting by Ferdinand von Wright depicting two snow buntings. Axel’s mother won this painting at a lottery arranged by the Finnish Art Society.
On the opposite wall, there is a watercolour from Italy by Helene Schjerfbeck. Axel was given the painting by Schjerfbeck when an exhibition of her work was held at Stenmans Konstsalong (Stenmans's Art Gallery) in Helsinki. In 1917–1920, Axel was employed at this gallery by Stenman, who was one of the most important art dealers in Finland. Several of the works of art and objects at Casa Haartman came via Stenmans Art Gallery.
