There are four works by Axel Haartman’s uncle, Casper Wrede, in the dining room. Wrede was an artist, who had studied in Germany and France, but he changed his career plans and became a farmer. He owned Gesterby Farm in Kimito for many years. Wrede was an important person in Axel’s life, and the two were close.

The dining room contains two paintings of Saustila Manor in the municipality of Sauvo, In the Arbour and Summer Morning. During Axel’s childhood, Saustila was owned by his father, Hugo Haartman (1851–1892). Hugo appears in one of the paintings, where he can be seen sitting with his wife, Hedvig, in thegarden arbour at Saustila. This painting hangs above the piano on the right.

Next to the terrace doors is a portrait of a man, made during Wrede’s time as a student in Paris. Next to Summer Morning is another work from his time in Paris, depicting the Adoration of the Shepards. Casper Wrede also painted the portraits in the salon, which depict GM Armfelt, the Duchess of Sagan, and Wava. These are all copies.

The dining room also houses a portrait of Casper Wrede, made by his good friend August Uotila.

Another portrait of Casper Wrede, made by Axel Haartman, can be found in the Studio upstairs.
