Pirámide Kinich Kak Moo
Located north of the historic center, this pyramid is the largest structure in Izamal and one of the most monumental in Yucatán. Its name means "Macaw of fire with a solar face", and it is dedicated to Kinich Kakmó, an ancient solar deity of the Maya. According to researchers, it was believed that this god descended at noon in the form of a macaw, wrapped in the burning sun, to collect offerings and sacrifices. Built between 400 and 700 A.D., the pyramid was an important ceremonial center. With an estimated volume of 700,000 m³, it stands out for its size and symbolism. Access is free and can be visited in approximately 30 minutes. It is open to the public every day from 8:00 to 17:00 hours, and is entered through 27th Street, between 28th and 29th.
