Lat. Pelargonium graveolens

The rose geranium, or scented-leaf pelargonium, originates from South Africa. The species is a hybrid between the round-leaved pelargonium (Pelargonium capitatum) and the medicinal pelargonium (Pelargonium radens). Its strongly scented leaves are toothed and deeply lobed. Pelargonium graveolens is also known as 'Doctor Westerlund’s health flower.' The Swedish name refers to physician Ernst Westerlund (1839–1924), who believed that the plant’s fragrance could purify unhealthy indoor air and help ward off illness. He maintained that every home should have one.
