Lat. Schlumbergera x buckleyi

Christmas and Thanksgiving cacti were already being cultivated in manor houses as early as the 1850s. The Schlumbergera genus originates from the mountainous regions of Brazil, which explains its abundant flowering during the darkest time of the year. After blooming, the plant requires a period of rest. The Christmas cactus and the Thanksgiving cactus look very similar, but the Christmas cactus has more rounded leaf segments, while the Thanksgiving cactus has more pointed, jagged ones. The Thanksgiving cactus is relatively easy to propagate from cuttings.
