Lat. Neomarica northiana
The walking iris, or North's false flag, was a common houseplant in the early 20th century. It was once believed that the plant would only bloom after producing twelve sword-like leaves. The flower is beautiful but short-lived, lasting only a single day. The walking iris belongs to the iris family, and its blossom resembles that of a sword lily. It thrives in a small pot and requires plenty of light to bloom. The walking iris at the museum Ett Hem comes from MTT Yltöis in Piikkiö.
